On April 10, Apple began selling special versions of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in red.
The front panel of the devices is made in black, and not in white, as before, the color. Aluminum frames are painted in tone, reports TechCrunch.
Red versions of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus entered the market as part of the charity RED line, traditionally produced by Apple to fight AIDS. Officially, the devices are called iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition.
(RED) is a charitable initiative of Apple, within the framework of which it was possible to collect more than $ 160 million. The proceeds from the sales of the RED product line provide testing, medical advice and treatment to tens of millions of people living with HIV / AIDS.
“It’s interesting to see that Apple waits about 6 months before launching the red versions of its iPhone, which could be a way to stimulate sales in the middle of the product life cycle,” TechCrunch notes.
The price of the red iPhone 8 starts from $ 699 for the version with 64 GB. There will also be 256 GB versions. To order red iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus it is possible since April, 10th. Sales of smartphones in stores will begin on Friday, April 13.
Note that the iPhone X will not be available in red. For this model in the series (PRODUCT) RED was released leather case Folio.
Recall, in March 2017, Apple released a red version of the iPhone 7. Then the company said that this is a limited series.
